Analysis of the meaning of the symbol of coke index
Analysis of the meaning of the symbol of coke index
1. FC meaning and influence
FC refers to the fixed carbon content of total moisture of no more than 8%, which is one of the main quality parameters of coke. The higher the FC, the higher the calorific value and strength of the coke, indicating that the impurities in the coke are also less. In production, high-FC coke is commonly used in blast furnaces and ferroalloy production.
2. VM meaning and impact
VM commands the content of unburned matter in coke after separation, also known as volatile matter. The lower the VM, the higher the calorific value and strength of the coke. At the same time, too high VM will lead to incomplete combustion of coke at high temperature, affecting the stability of smelting. Therefore, in production, it is generally necessary to control the VM content below 12%.
3. ASH meaning and impact
ASH refers to the ash content of coke, that is, the content of non-combustible materials. The lower the ASH, the higher the calorific value and strength of coke, and at the same time, the burning loss of coke at high temperatures can be reduced. In production, ASH should be controlled below 10%, otherwise it will affect the smelting effect of the blast furnace.
4. Meaning and influence of S
S is the sulfur content in coke, which is a key indicator of coke. High S content will lead to high sulfur content in blast furnace slag and reduce the quality of steel. Therefore, in production, the S content is usually controlled below 1%.
5. Meaning and influence of G
G refers to the residual calorific value of coke, which is an important indicator to reflect whether coke can be completely burned. The higher the G, the less calorific value in the coke and the greater the possibility of incomplete combustion. In production, it is generally necessary to control the G content below 6%.
To sum up, each symbol in the coke index represents different parameters, but their joint effect is to affect the quality and performance of coke. In iron and steel production, the control of coke indicators is the basis to ensure the stability of blast furnace smelting and steel quality.
