He Wenbo held talks with World Steel Association Director General Basson

On the morning of June 19, He Wenbo, Executive Chairman of the China Iron and Steel Association, and Edwin Basson, Director General of the World Steel Association, held talks in Beijing. The two sides exchanged views on the situation of steel in China and the world as well as the future cooperation between the two associations.

The two sides shared the view that promoting a low-carbon transition is a top priority for steel in the world, including China, now and in the future, and requires broad cooperation from all companies and governments. As the Steel Association, it should pay close attention to the changes in important standards and regulations related to the green and low-carbon transformation of the industry, play a role in promoting the green transformation, and should timely assess the impact of relevant policies and regulations on the healthy development of the steel industry, and make a difference in protecting and improving the development environment of the steel industry.

The two sides agreed that the World Steel Association and CISA will maintain communication and arrange thematic exchanges on key issues of green steel. The Executive Committee and Annual meeting of the World Steel Association, the 12th China International Steel Conference and the Global Low-carbon Metallurgical Innovation Forum hosted by CISA and Baowu Group will be held in Shanghai in October this year, and the two sides discussed the arrangements and relevant preparations for the meeting.

Su Changyong, Deputy Secretary-General of WSA, Huang Dao, Deputy Chief Engineer, Zhong Shaoliang, Deputy Director General of WSA and Chief representative of Beijing Office, attended the meeting.
