Below are indicative grinding depths for mill rolls:
1) The grinding control of work rolls in normal off is 0.10-0.15 mm grinding depth. In case of heavy crack inspection is needed while grinding, and inspection by professional technicians is required before grinding is conducted as per actual conditions.
2) The grinding control of intermediate rolls in normal off is 0.4-0.5mm grinding depth while back rolls is 0.8-1.2mm. partial polishing and smooth transition are required where there is a crack point and the defect diameter is control within 30mm, magnetic flaw detection is done to confirm there is no extended crack before it is put into service.
